Film: Rebel in the Rye
When J.D. Salinger (Nicholas Hoult) enters the hotel with his family, he finds a play room with several chess/checkers tables in it. Two children playing the latter game seem to be the inspiration for one of his stories. We also see soldiers playing dominoes and cards in several flashbacks, when J.D. is convalescent after the war, and also a chess set in his country house later in the film.
