The board game from the original 90s film is found at the beach by a character at the beginning of the remake. The man gives it to his son (Mason Guccione) as a gift. As the son it not interested in board games, Jumanji transforms itself magically in a video-game for this new version of the story.
Jumanji was a fictitious game when the 1995 movie was released. The "real" board game was published after that.
